ABDC

In Inside My Head on January 23, 2009 at 12:48 AM

America’s Best Dance Crew! I’m about to sleep but I thought I’d post something about some of the crews.

Fly Khicks – Cheerleaders that loves shoes. They can dance a bit. (I guess..)
Dynamic Edition – Tap dancers that got themselves in an unofficial hip-hop competition
Ringmasters – Only good for a freak show. All they can do is dislocate their arm and twirl it around. Join the circus, not ABDC.
Quest Crew – I like them the best so far.
Beat Freaks – They’re my #2. Girl power! (Lol)
Strikers All-Star – Stomp The Yard on TV. They’re pretty good. Entertaining at times.

That’s the majority of the teams. Too bad I missed season 2. I didn’t have cable so I couldn’t watch it back in San Francisco. I also wasn’t all that into ABDC. Now I am.

What Do SoCal People Call Tapioca?

In Inside My Head, Random on January 21, 2009 at 12:20 PM

Okay, I haven’t updated for almost two weeks. How lazy have I gotten since I got down here? Well anyway, I’ve been wanting to post this since I went to the Tapioca Express that opened on campus in Price Center. When I got the receipt for my number on it, I saw that they had some weird lingo on the receipt. I was like “wtf?!” Here’s what totally made me “LOL”.

Whoa!

Whoa!

Yeah. That’s it for today. Lame, right?

What the!? From 75cents wash laundry to a dollar AND 50cents dry laundry to 75 cents?! We’re college students here! Highway robbery to the max! Oh gosh.. I gotta start panhandling or something. This is gonna rob me dry! I’m gonna starve! (Not really.) Maybe I’ll just not wear clothes on weekends or something.

Kidding.

Slacking on Posting

In Daily Life, Inside My Head, Random, Special Events on December 27, 2008 at 10:58 PM

Oh jeez! I’ve been slacking on posting what I’ve been doing. Everything I get home, I’m always so tired that I don’t really want to do anything tedious. I usually get home around midnight, then I just go on the computer to either chat or YouTube. I only do late night postings in San Diego ;] Hm.. what have I been doing? Let me try to remember …

Christmas: Before & After

What did I do for Christmas Eve? Hmm .. I left the house at around 4PM to go to the pier with Betty, Angela, Shirley, Jeffrey, and Sabrina. Man! It was raining pretty hard that day. While walking to Pier 39, we passed by Starbucks and saw Edward taking out the trash. Since we were there, we decided to go visit him, but he went to the “back” to do something. He never came out so … we left. Haha. Once we got to the pier, we just went to look at the bay for a bit, then the sea lions. Surprisingly, there were still some out in the open and were “arf-arf-ing”. Someone was hungry, so we decided to go to In-N-Out. We got our food, then Edward came to meet us up. Since I had to go to a White Elephant thing at Jordan’s house, I just got an In-N-Out gift card, then we all left to go take the bus. I rushed to the BART station, then took the BART to Balboa Park where Joey picked me up. He gave me a ride to Jordan’s, then we just chilled, played White Elephant (I got a fleece blanket :) ), then watched “Bucket List”. It was still good the second time I watched it. Home after that. Nothing big.

For Christmas, I left the house at around 10AM to meet up Betty, Sabrina, Angela, and Jeffrey to watch “Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons“. That movie was pretty good, but not as good as I expected. It was a pretty hilarious too, which I didn’t expect. After watching Benjamin Buttons, we went to watch “Valkyrie“. I actually had high hopes for the movie, but it wasn’t as good as I expected. Eh. None of the movies met up to my expectations! They didn’t suck though, which was fine .. I guess. Haha. After that, Betty and I left to go eat while Jeffrey, Sabrina, and Angela went to watch “Yes Man”. We met up Edward at his house to go to Boudins to have some clam chowder in a bowl. Man, it was pretty darn good. Outside eating + fire place + clam chowder in a bowl = some friggin’ good clam chowder in a bowl experience. After .. we went to 7-11 to get some stuff. Then .. went to Edward’s to wash my hands and use the bathroom. After, we left to go home. I had dinner with my family + grandpa & grandma, then went back out at around 11PM to go to Embarcadero with Edward, Anthony, Sabrina, Kenny, Betty, and Angela. We went to 7-11 again to grab some food, then went to the Hyatt to chill. After the Hyatt, we decided to go to Sabrina’s to SingStar for a bit. Turns out a bit became 3 hours. We left her house at around 4AM-ish?

December 26th

Woke up at Edward’s. Then used the computer for a bit. I woke Edward’s lazy butt up to go eat. Went to Pacific Court at around 2PM. An Duc and Seward came a bit after. Edward decided to go get a haircut. The rest of us went to Pier 39 to chill. Saw some crazy breakdancing people there. Edward came a little later becacuse his aunt’s place was crowded. After we chilled there, we went to Chinatown. Seward went to D&A, which is now called Broadway Cafe, to eat. An Duc went home. Edward and I went to Macy’s to check out some stuff. After Downtown, which was around 6PM, we went to CC to meet up Kenny, Seward, and An Duc. Played basketball until 10PM. Went to Broadway Cafe to have a little snack, then went home.

December 27th (Today)

Betty texted me late last night at around 4AM to go ice skating, but I didn’t see it until like 11AM. Met up Betty at around 2PM at the Embarcadero, but we couldn’t ice skate because of some ” ‘unforseen’ complications”. Haha :) . We then walked around the Embarcadero for a bit, then decided to walk to Ma’s Dim Sum. Ate at Ma’s, then went to Quickly to grab a drink. Went to Woh Hei to chill for a bit, then went to Downtown to take the L to go to Sunset to Karaoke. Met up Karen, Linda, Angela, Annie, Jeffrey, Devin, Anthony, Kevin, Kenny, and Sabrina at the Karaoke place. We karaoked for around 2 hours, then went to KFC for a bit. After that, took the L back to Downtown, where Linda & I went home. Now I’m here! Oh jeez! So much that I wrote. I guess I’m done for today.

“Fob” Hair

In Daily Life, Inside My Head, Random, Uncategorized on December 19, 2008 at 2:15 AM

Since I came back to San Francisco, people made fun of my long hair. I was too cheap to cut it in San Diego, so I left it growing freely. After a while, the hair on the top of my head would not stay up for more than an hour after being blowdryed up. It would slowly droop down until my hair looks like Super Saiyan hair. I call it Super Saiyan hair, but some people call it fob hair, wanna-be fob hair, bush, or even Dustin hair. Dustin hair? Really? Maybe guys coming back from San Diego have similar hairstyles. Haha. Well, I cut my Super Saiyan hair today in Chinatown. They cut it so fast that it seemed like they took only 5 minutes. They put on the flip, shaved the top of my head, then shaved the sides, then cut the rest. That was probably the fastest hair cut I’ve ever had in my life. It might be one of the best I had too. Too bad .. it looks like An Duc hair now. Ew.

Just kidding.

Turned It Up

In Daily Life, Inside My Head, Music on December 11, 2008 at 10:22 PM

I finally bought speakers from the UCSD bookstore for my computer. I’ve been getting bored of my built-in laptop speakers. It sounds so terrible; I can’t enjoy my music. Once I bought it, I quickly boarded back to my place and installed it. I plugged this here, and that there, and turned those two knobs all the way up and then BAM! The place had an earthquake :) Oh yeah .. I totally forgot my apartment-mates were still sleeping, but … they didn’t get out of their room so I assumed they didn’t wake up from it. Anyways, I’m studying for my last final with an bumpin’ music. How do you like my study habit?

Pfft. Whatever :)

Finals Week: Study Lockdown

In Daily Life, Inside My Head, Special Events on December 7, 2008 at 6:02 PM

I’m at Price Center East right now. Oh man! I need a break from all this studying I’ve been doing since Thursday. I think it’s safe to say that I’m on study lockdown. I’ve been studying for my Math20B (calculus 2) final since Thursday afternoon until now. I hate locking myself in a room, or sitting on a chair for long hours, but it must be done. Working over math equations and remembering formulas is no fun for the weekend. Now I understand what all the fuss was about when people said finals week is crazy. Back in high school, finals was nothing! I don’t need to study. I could just wing it and still get an A. Now, it’s either study or fail. I’m kinda struggling with my grade in Math20B right now. It’s not that I don’t know my material; It’s because I forget things during the test because of nervousness. By being nervous, I make careless mistakes and I get points taken off. If I final my math final, I won’t be able to go to Math20C next quarter! :( Please let me pass.

I’m currently studying for DOC right now. Ever since week 4, I’ve been slacking in this class and have been getting low grades. I think I’ll come out of this class getting a C+ at most. I hope the final isn’t hard …

Later on tonight, I’ll be taking a sample final that I could print out from my professor’s website. If I’m able to do that test ease, I think I’m ready for the final tomorrow. (My stupid final is at 8AM! 30 minutes after my math final is my DOC final. :( ) If I still have problems … I guess I have to put in a few more hours of studying.

Thursday: Math studying: 4 hours
Friday: Math studying: 7 hours
Saturday: Math studying: 12-13 hours
Sunday: DOC studying: 3 hours
Math studying: predicting 4 hours

Estimated total time: 30-31 hours (Math: 27 hours DOC: 3 hours)

If I fail, I’m gonna cry. (Or I could just jump off Geisel Library. Haha. Just kidding. Not Funny.)

Counting Down

In Inside My Head on December 2, 2008 at 8:18 PM

Two more weeks until I get to go back to San Francisco! Oh, how much I’ve been longing for that day to come. I hate how the two last weeks are the hardest weeks of the quarter. Finals week! Darn it! I got two finals on the same day, and they’re for the classes that I’m not doing so well on. Stupid Calculus and DOC! I must study day and night for a few days for math just to hope to get a good enough grade. I hate college!

I hate how no matter how much I study, I can’t seem to get a grade higher than a C-. I studied for 13 hours for my last midterm, and I ended up getting a C-. Whats up with that? I swear I had everything down before I went into that darn lecture hall to take my midterm. When I came out, I thought I did pretty good too. When I get my results, I didn’t do so good. Studying doesn’t help!

Ghost Town UCSD

In Inside My Head, Special Events on November 30, 2008 at 3:59 AM

Thanksgiving break and I’m stuck here in UCSD. The school became a ghost town here from sunrise to sunset. It’s kind of weird walking around with no around; It’s kind of creepy. The dining halls are closed so I have to cook my own dinner, or boil water for instant noodles. I hate not eating dining hall food. It is way better than my cooking. Haha. So .. what did I do for Thanksgiving? I had no plans to begin with. I was just gonna cook steak for myself to eat and invite whoever wants to come eat. During the afternoon, my roommate came back and invited me to have Korean BBQ with him, his girlfriend, and his friends at his girlfriend’s place. I had nothing to do so I said sure. I also invited Angela along. Afterwards, Betty needed to go to Ralph’s so I went with her. I bought some cereal and milk for breakfast, then we went back. I walked her back to her place, then I went back to get stuff for Korean BBQ. It was really good! We did run out of food really fast, but it was still good. Afterwards, Angela and I went to her place to watch Molin Rouge. After watching it, I went back to my apartment and slept.

It’s Saturday and the school is still a ghost town. I barely see anyone walk on the streets or play anything. I did see some people play tennis though. I hate coming home to an empty apartment all the time, knowing that when I go to sleep, I’ll be the only one in it. Other than weekdays, 80% of the time, I’m the only one in the apartment when I sleep. Sucks.

Slacking to the Max

In Inside My Head on November 26, 2008 at 3:51 PM

When I’m bored, I usually find myself surfing YouTube, watching videos of just about anything that interests me. One obvious interest is basketball. I search of videos of Dwayne Wade crossovers, Yao’s top ten plays, etc, etc. All the videos that I watch of basketball tells me one thing; I haven’t been practicing at all. Well, maybe not at all. I’ve been to the gym every week, at least two times a week. It’s been about three months since I’ve been here, so I’ve been to the gym a lot. The thing is, out of all the times I’ve been to the gym (about … 24 times?), I’ve only been playing basketball there three times. It’s not that I’m lazy. Mostly, it’s because the courts are always full. Out of the three times I played, only once was there a challenging game. I mean it wasn’t just ordinary challeneging. It was so crazy that I felt like I was playing with the wrong people. Back in San Francisco, it wasn’t that hard playing basketball. In fact, it wasn’t hard at all. Most people in San Francisco are barely 5 feet 10. People here average like .. 6 feet 3. Even the Asians here are that tall. They’re also buff as hell!

I gotta start practicing and playing basketball or I’m gonna end up back in San Francisco missing easy lay-ups and being stupid. I don’t want to find everyone’s basketball skills improving and mine are receding. What’s up with that? I can’t play against white people? If Yao can, I can also! I’ll show you people back in SF. :P

Jay Chou – Capricorn

In Inside My Head, Music on November 14, 2008 at 1:49 AM

Jay Chou has a new album! The album’s name is called Capricorn. I got all the songs to it, but I’ve only listened to about three of them. So far, 2 of them are good to me, which is a good sign. :) One song I would like to mention is “Shuo Hao De Xing Fu Ne” (Where’s The Promised Happiness?). From the very first second to the very last note, it got my hooked. Be warned! This song is very addicting, as some people may know already. Haha. It sounds like his older songs, but thats why its also good! Thats a plus one if it sounds like all his other great songs.

Another song I would like to mention is “Zui Chang De Dian Ying” (The Longest Movie). Not only is the song good, but the music video is also good! Take a look at it if you have time. :) Man.. Jay Chou never cease to amaze me and my ears with his songs.

Korean BBQ

In Daily Life, Inside My Head, Music on November 13, 2008 at 1:46 AM

Mmm! Who would’ve thought Korean BBq was gonna be so good! What is it? I’d say its similar to hotpotting with the grill right below the hotpot… but without the hotpot. Haha. Basically, you have a BBQ grill in the middle, and you toss raw meat on there to cook. It’s so good! Some of the meat tasted like Vietnamese pork. I was like “Whoa!? Isn’t this Korean BBQ?! Why does it taste Vietnamese?” Anyways, I totally raided that place with my black hole-like stomach. They totally found a good way to scam me to eat vegetables. They had me WRAP my meat with the lettuce they gave us. To my surprise, it tasted pretty good! I had veggies all night! (See? I do eat veggies once in a while!)

It looks a little like this. It’s not an actual picture though.

Three Day Post

In Daily Life, Inside My Head, Special Events on November 4, 2008 at 11:25 PM

My blog sure is gathering dust. I’ve had so much to do these days that even when I want to update my blog, I forget to or I don’t have time to. Let’s get down to blogging. What did I do for the past few days?

Halloween

For Halloween, Betty, Angela, Seward, Vinson Chen, and I signed up for this thing for MASA called “The Mystery Bus”. You buy the tickets for 26 bucks each, then they take you on this bus for 12 hours going to different places. Of course, they won’t tell you where you’re going. That’s why its a mystery. Haha. Well, I’ll unconver the mystery.

First stop: Haunted Trails

Dude! I have never been so scared in my life! Haunted trails is where they set up sets around the park, then you walk around the trail going to different sets. They got sets from “The Strangers” movie, “Halloween” movie, and just scary sets. The zombies on the bus was the scariest! We had to walk through this broken down school bus with zombies scattered around sitting on the seats with their heads down. You wouldn’t know which one would pop up to scare you. There were other scary ones too, but I thought the bus was the scariest. The also scare you on the path to other sets too. The scary thing is they also follow you. If you run, they chase after you. Jeez!

Next Stop: Laser Tag 15vs15

This was where my Boomer’s Lazer Tag skills came into use. This laser tag arena was so cool! They had 2 levels so you can shoot people below. You can capture bases, kill aliens, and everything. They also print out your stats sheet and rank you out of all the players to see who did well. Rank 3! Best ranked in my team. :) There were three teams by the way.

After Laser tag: Beach

Nothing special. We just went to the beach at night to play some games and tell some ghost stories. The hotel near the beach was apparently haunted. :X

After that: Bowling

Bowling again. Nothing new. I got a score of 111, darn it! I forgot how to spin the ball, so I had to bowl straight the whole time. How lame. Oh well, it was still fun. :)

Cha-Ching! Casino!

Yup. That day was the first time I went to the casino and tried out gambling. Never play the slot machines if you don’t know what you’re getting yourself into! I lost five dollars in less than a minute. Actually, me and Seward both did. Gambling sucks! Should’ve played Blackjack.

Final Stop: Some hill

The final stop was a stop on a hill that had a really nice view. We sat there to watch the sunrise and eat breakfast, which was bagel and orange juice.

The mystery bus was the bomb while it lasted. After we got driven back to UCSD, we all went back to our place and knocked out. I got back to my place at 9:00, then totally knocked out until 1PM.

November 1st: Cooking Day

After waking up, I went to eat with Seward and Angela at Canyon Vista, their dining hall. We ate there for a little over an hour, then decided to go to Tilly’s to check out their buy something and get something else 50% off. Angela bought two new pair of Vans. While walking back, we decided to cook dinner that night, so we decided to go to Ralph’s (I guess it’s like a SoCal version of Safeway). We bought Buy-1-Get-1-Free Raw Chicken Tender meat, Oil, 20lb of Rice, 2 Mongolian Beef Seasoning, Broccoli, and onion. Obviously, we were gonna eat chinese that night. Cooking was pretty darn fun. Too bad it was $50 and there were so many dishes to do at the end. Check out Betty’s facebook for the pictures.

Election Day

First time voting was pretty cool. I felt stupid not knowing where to go because all the booths looked taken so I was like, “Where do I go again?” Haha. I’ll just let a picture sum it up.

Obamas Victory

Obama's Victory

P.S. If you want to know how the haunted trail is like, click here. Then, click on haunted hotel. Then click on Video on the bottom left. The haunted trail is like that,  but on a trail.

DJ Ironik is the bomb! I love his raps and rhymes; they’re all so nice. I’m not sure if that makes sense.. nice rhymes. Haha. But anyways, he’s one emo rapper. I think most of his emo songs are rapping about this one girl. If you listen to the song “Tracy” and “I Wish“, it sounds like he’s rapping about the same girl. Check out the lyrics for “I Wish”. They’re pretty sick :)

He’s a new type of rapper that I’ve been listening to. It sounds like hes British, and he’s also not mainstream. (At least I don’t think he is.)

Longboard: Kickin’ and Pushin’

In Inside My Head, Random on October 23, 2008 at 3:25 PM

When people said, “You have A LOT of free time in college!”, I didn’t really understand what they meant when they used the words “a lot”. Now that I’m in college, I know what they’re talking about now. There are times when I am so bored, I’m desperate to do anything! Seeing that my apartment-mate is a longboarder, I asked him to teach. The first time I borrowed his board, I didn’t really feel the need to ask him for help. All you do is kick and push, right? I figured Lupe’s song was a good enough tutorial for me to learn how to longboard. I took the board out and started kicking and pushing. I was doing pretty good, but the board is kind of wobbly. Angela was also there to spectate and try. We took turns on the board, so she would get on and try it out. It was pretty scary because the board isn’t still; it wobbles left and right to turn. I didn’t really know how to stop either, so when I almost boarded to some grass, I fell backwards on my butt and wrist. Angela has yet to be in an accident. Lucky her. Anyways, I’ve been trying to commute with the longboard whenever I can, usually at night when less people are around. I’ve been getting better and better each day. Maybe when I come back for Christmas break, I’ll bring it along and show it to you people up in San Francisco. You don’t see much longboarders, eh?

I found this really cool, but sick article on ShortNews. This lady from China has a rare condition where she can write on herself with her fingernail, then the words would welt up from her skin. That’s pretty sick, but if you think about it, you can save lots of money on notebooks and paper. Here’s a snippet from the article:

Huang Xiangji, a 50 year old woman from Chendu, China, is being studied by doctors for a rare condition she suffers from. Artificial Urticaria, is a syndrome where sufferers can write on themselves using a fingernail.

Xiangji, has her body covered in poems she has written with her fingers. After gently writing on the skin with a fingernail, the ‘writing’ rises through the skin as a welt. Xiangji said; “It is useful when it comes to writing a shopping list.”

There are no ill effects from the rare condition, although the Urticaria skin disorder is common. Sandra Hsu, of the Chinese Medical Association, said “The condition is basically an allergy, but to be so touch sensitive is highly unusual.”

Stussy & Pool

In Daily Life, Inside My Head, Special Events on October 19, 2008 at 3:09 AM

The Stussy sale came today to Library Walk. I went over to Library Walk around 9:30 simply to get some Panda Express, but I already saw a line for the sale. What the? Do people not sleep in on Saturdays? I obviously have an excuse; I was hungry. People actually wake up early and line up for this? I knew what I had to do. Forget breakfast! I just went to line up with the rest of the people. Getting in was pretty quick. All I had to do was tell them I wear XL (which I don’t), and they let me cut everyone. I stayed there for about four hours because I had to wait for Angela and Betty, then line up to pay for the stuff I wanted to buy. I kept finding tee’s that I liked, but I didn’t want to spend so much money, so I had to nail down to four tee’s. The clothes there were cheap; jackets for 40; pants for 25; tee’s for 10; hoodies for 25.

We had nothing to do on such a nice Saturday, so we decided to play pool. Seward, Angela, and I played for a total of five hours. By the end of this year, I swear, we’re gonna be pro at pool. Pool is so much fun. I never thought a long stick and balls would make time fly by so fast. We started at around 4:30, then we ended at 9:45. I think we’re gonna make the pool room our new hangout spot. :)

Bang!

In Daily Life, Inside My Head, Music, Special Events on October 18, 2008 at 1:45 AM

Bang! I thought I would never see that game again! I miss ‘06 and ‘07 summer, where we would play “Bang!” and “Liar’s Dice” in Daycamp until like 7PM. Man, I wish Gordon was here. He’s the only person that can challenge me in a battle of wits during “Liar’s Dice”. Bang was also a crazy fun game. Dustin brought it to church to let us play, then we totally got hooked!

Bang! is a card game where everyone is a character, and a specific role. You’re either an outlaw, renegade, deputy, or sheriff. The outlaw’s objective is to kill the sheriff. The renegade’s objective is to kill everybody. The deputy’s objective is to protect the sheriff, and the sheriff’s objective is to eliminate all renegades and outlaws. This game is fun because you only know who the sheriff is. You have to try to figure out who is who. This game really makes me laugh. :)

I would explain what “Liar’s Dice” is, but its really hard to explain. It’s a game where you try to out-think everyone, and try to think more steps ahead. I don’t think much people here would like to play that. Maybe Seward would.

Why did I talk about “Bang!”? I went to MASA’s potluck today with Angela, Seward, Vinson, Nathan, and Betty. While I was eating, I spotted Bang! I was like, “Oh no they did not just have bang here”. Instantly, I was trying to gather people to play. Man! It was so hard explaining how to play to people. It was still fun to play. Lots of laughs and lots of yelling. I wish I was back at chuch, playing Bang with everyone else that played back then. :(

Hancock

In Daily Life, Inside My Head, Music on October 15, 2008 at 12:26 PM

We went to watch Hancock yesterday at the Price Center Theatre. I thought it was going to be some stupid superhero movie, but in the back of my head, I was like “No way… It’s Will Smith!” I knew my homeboy Will Smith wouldn’t let me down. If you haven’t watched it yet, you better check it out. It totally blew my mind because of how the story was. I was like “Whoaaa!” Haha. If I was to rate this movie…

Sick!

In Daily Life, Inside My Head on October 13, 2008 at 7:57 PM

Who would’ve thought that I would catch a cold in San Diego? I went to the movies with Angela and Betty with a tee on because it was hot. Once I got into the theatre, it was all cold and breezy. I thought I could handle it, but when I got out, it was soooo cold. I walked around like that for a bit, then everything started turning bad. I started getting a headache, then a runny nose, then stuffed ears. During that night, I couldn’t even sleep. I had an 8 o clock class the next day! Boo! Well anyways! Here’s a really interesting article I found on ShortNews.

Lawyer For Rapist: Victim Not Devestated — Looks Happy on Facebook

Haha. I really like this lawyer’s argument. Here’s a lesson everyone should learn; be careful what you post on facebook. :)

TV @ RIMAC

In Inside My Head on October 6, 2008 at 11:51 PM

Watching television while working out helps me forget the burn and the pain that comes from it. I was doing the chest working while sitting when I saw the TV that was hanging from the ceiling. The “Colbert Report” was on, and it was talking about O.J Simpson. They didn’t have the volume on; I assumed it was muted. The captions on the bottom of the screen helped me know what was going on. What I thought was funny was when he said O.J went to jail on purpose. O.J was searching so hard for the so-called “killer” that murdered his wife. He obviously exhausted the avenues, so he knew the killer was in jail already. Wouldn’t you think it’s kind of weird when you work out, and then someone starts chuckling next to you? Well.. I’m the guy next to you. Haha. Thank goodness for RIMAC. If there wasn’t RIMAC, I’d be getting fat from doing nothing all the time. Another good thing is that they have a big gym for basketball. Good for me!

Right now, I feel like crap. My muscles feel like jello and I feel like just going to bed. Too bad I still have to shower and brush my teeth first. I hate doing those things!

Nice Guy

In Daily Life, Inside My Head, Uncategorized on October 2, 2008 at 8:38 PM

I couldn’t go to MASA’s Pho event today because I had a stupid discussion at 6PM. How useless! I didn’t even need to go. Everyone’s asking stupid questions on easy problems, and I stayed just to take detailed notes for future references. I got out of the stupid lecture at 7PM, then went back to my apartment. As usual, no ones home. Some roommates are out at a concert. Another is hanging out with his korean friends. Betty and them are out at Pho. Whatever.

I was just surfing the web when I was curious about what updates Wong Fu had since the last time I checked them out. That was like half a year ago. They didn’t really have much new stuff, so I decided to view the thing that made me start to like them, the “Just a Nice Guy” shorts. It’s about a guy named Nick that is a “NG”. (Nice Guy). He likes this girl, but he doesn’t want to te– just watch it for yourself! For me, after watching it again, I came to a conclusion that I still love it! It’s so cool. For some reason, a lot of people from UCSD don’t know who Wong Fu is. I was like “What?! Why’d you come to this school for?!” Haha.

Check out their other stuff too! Either go on YouTube and type in “Wong Fu Productions”, or go to their website.

This Is Why I’m Hot

In Daily Life, Inside My Head, Music on October 1, 2008 at 7:30 PM

Dude! What’s wrong with stupid San Diego? After class, at around 11AM, the Yahoo! Weather said it was 92F degrees in La Jolla. (Yes, UCSD is not actually in SD; it’s in friggin’ La Jolla) Why is it so hot?! I thought summer was over already! Apparently not. While I was walking back to my apartment, my neck started feeling like it was being fried. I must’ve been out, starting from getting out of class to going back to my apartment, for a total of probably 5 minutes at max. Once I got back, I quickly switched from my black jeans to gray thin shorts. Oh gosh, I gotta get used to this SD weather.

So .. Eagle Eye was the bomb! I’m just gonna summarize it real quick. It’s about this dude and this gal runnin’ around, takin’ orders from this computerized voice. They either obey or bad stuff happens. Bam Bam Boom Boom! Fast forward. The end. In conclusion, the movie was really good. It’s a must watch for sure.

I haven’t posted up a song here for quite some time, so here’s a song I listened to a long time ago but fell in love with again.

Very good lyrics. Listen.

College Life

In Daily Life, Inside My Head on September 30, 2008 at 1:09 AM

College life is totally different from high school. I could just roll out of bed, get dressed, and walk to class. It takes a lot of discipline to just wake up and tell yourself to get ready before you’re late. I would go to the lecture hall around 15-25 minutes early to get a good seat in the lecture hall. No one likes a seat all the way in the corner super far away from the professor. Also, people are really serious about homework and study here. Well … maybe only in UCSD. On the weekdays, you see lots of people walk around after class around 6PM, just hanging out doing whatever. Once it hits Friday, the whole campus is like a ghost town. I would assume that most of them are off campus somewhere having fun on a Friday night, but they’re actually in their dorms starting their homework already. Walking around people’s suites, most people are either on their bed reading their textbook, or on their table doing homework. Saturday and Sunday are no exceptions. I guess us San Francisco kids aren’t really that crazy on homework.

I had two classes and one discussion today. Calculus at 8AM in the morning is always a drag. I woke up at 7AM to get ready, then walked to my class. After class, I went to Oceanview Terrace to eat breakfast, then to Oceanview Lounge to turn in my form. I went back to my apartment to do some DOC reading that I didn’t do. I read about 20 something pages when Betty called me to go eat. I’m always hungry, so I went. We went to Oceanview Terrace again to eat. Betty had to go to Price Center to get money for her minifridge, so we walked to Price Center for her to use the ATM. Seward was going to meet her up, so I went to my next class. DOC is always boring. Today, they were arguing with the professor about different kinds of discrimination. After class, I went to meet up Angela to eat again. Went to bookstore to buy my book, then Angela walked me to my discussion. I waited for my discussion to start while Angela waited for Betty to get out of class at the same building. Discussion sucks. After discussion, Diana and I went to Angela’s to meet them up to watch movie. At around 6, they went to Canyon Vista to eat. I went to drop off my stuff at my apartment. We got to the theatre at around 7, just in time for Eagle Eye. It was so sick! Maybe I’ll talk about it in the next post. After Eagle Eye, we went to watch Lakeview Terrace. That movie was alright. Samuel L. Jackson made a really good bad guy. He was pretty creepy too. Got out of the theatre at around 12:05AM, then back to campus at around 12:35AM. I got back to my place at 12:55AM, so I’m good. Haha. I don’t know about Angela, Betty, or Diana though. :|

Blair Witch Project

In Daily Life, Inside My Head on September 16, 2008 at 11:37 AM

Another day, another movie watched at Angela and Betty’s house. This time, we watched the “Blair Witch Project”. I heard people say that after watching this movie, you never want to go camping again. I didn’t really take what they said seriously because honestly, what can this movie possibly have that will make you not want to camp anymore? I didn’t even know what I was getting myself into when I decided to watch it. Even though I was asleep for the first half of the movie, it still spooked me. I can see why people said they got scared of camping after watching this. This movie was kind of weird though. It has no parts that made me jump, but it still spooked me. It’s one of those movies where you watch it and you’ll get chills. This movie is a must watch before/during camping!

Three film students travel to Maryland to make a student film about a local urban legend… The Blair Witch. The three went into the woods on a two day hike to find the Blair Witch, and never came back. One year later, the students film and video was found in the woods. The footage was compiled and made into a movie. The Blair Witch Project.

After watching the movie, we decided to mess with the Ouija board. Oooooh. I guess we weren’t done with scary stuff. At around midnight, Kenny picks up the Ouija board and decides he wants to play. After much debating from Betty about not wanting to be haunted, we all decided to go outside to the hill on Jones and Vallejo(?) to play. It was so darn cold outside. We asked the board various questions, but the planchette wouldn’t move. I guess it didn’t really work. The planchette did move a little bit (like 1 cm), but it could’ve been the players’ hands were cold, the wind, their laps, or pressing the planchette too hard. So much for talking to “spirits”. Haha.

Ouija Board

In Inside My Head on September 15, 2008 at 12:06 AM

I was talking to Angela and Betty about possibly playing the Ouija board that I gave Angela for her birthday just a first. I got kinda curious about what it does and if it was true, so I decided to search google for stories about Ouija board experiences. Stupid stories! After reading them, I do not want to mess with the stupid cardboard game. I don’t want any spirits haunting me while walking home at night! According to information on the web, it says playing it will open doors to paranormal and spiritual beings to come into our world. Reading it more and more, it said it was connected to the Devil. Who would want to play with the stupid board after reading such things? I really wanna play, but I don’t wanna get haunted or anything. People know (especially Betty) that I’m scared of ghosts and all those crap. I won’t even take a shower when it’s anywhere near midnight. Anyone brave enough to play?

Burn After Reading

In Daily Life, Inside My Head on September 10, 2008 at 11:17 PM

So my friends and I went to a screening of “Burn After Reading” today. After an hour and a half, I came out of the theater thinking, “What the hell?”. This has got to be the weirdest, funkiest, not-making-sense movie I have ever watched. The movie had a few laughs here and there. Brad Pitt also gets punched in the nose, which is quite hilarious to watch. This has got to be his worse role in his career though.

Nose Bleed for Brad

Nose Bleed for Brad

This movie made no sense at all. When the movie started, it showed two characters. Then two more came, and another came, and anoth– what the hell?! I couldn’t even follow who was who, and what was going on! I started picking it up when it got close to an hour. Clever funny? Maybe a little. Stupid funny? Quite a bit.

Mainstream vs Underground

In Inside My Head on September 10, 2008 at 7:36 AM

Mainstream music versus “underground” music. Honestly, I like underground music more than mainstream music. The songs on the radio nowadays are pointless and repetitive. When I listen to the song, I usually listen to the beat. If the beat is good, I’ll continue with the song’s lyrics. If they’re both decent or better, I’ll keep it. Songs on the radio usually has good beats, but the lyrics SUCK! The artists all talk about the same things: Drugs, guns, gangs, etc. The only artists that are worthy to be on my playlist and are also on the radio are Kanye West, Chris Brown, T.I, and Lil’ Wayne. Yes, I said T.I. and Lil’ Wayne. Even though they go on about drugs and guns and all, some of their songs actually have meaning to it. Give these following songs a shot.

T.I. – No Matter What
“Avoid insanity manage to conquer
every obstacle
make impossible possible
even when winnings illogical
losing’s still far from optional”

Lil’ Wayne – Tie My Hands

I, knock on the door,
hope isn’t home,
fates not around, the lucks all gone,
don’t ask me whats wrong, ask me whats right
and ima tell you whats life

Underground music usually has more meaning in their songs. I’m assuming they’re doing it for free, so they don’t really care about what people think when they actually sing/rap about what’s on their minds. What am I saying? It’s too late at night for me to think straight. I’m gonna stop here.

Felt like adding a picture of Chris B. here.

Saw I

In Daily Life, Inside My Head on September 9, 2008 at 7:53 AM

Well I got home an hour after midnight because I watched Saw I at Angela & Betty’s house today. Although I did watch Saw III, this was my first time watching Saw I. Tomorrow might be Saw II, which I’m hoping that we would watch earlier. In my opinion, Saw III was better than Saw I. I’m not gonna spoil it for those of you that haven’t watched it yet, but I thought Saw III was much “smarter” and gory than Saw I. Jigsaw looked even looked better in Saw III than Saw I! I’m still amazed at how the movie producers could think of so much sick games and possible scenarios for the movie. If Jigsaw was real, you have to be a really deep, sick, disgusting thinker and be able to “think ahead” like twenty thousand steps of how the victim will think in order to create those games. I wish I had a mind like that. :)

P.S. The part where Adam beat the crap out of the toy Jigsaw was priceless.

Coming Home

In Inside My Head on September 4, 2008 at 8:03 AM

I love leaving the house. When I leave the house, it’s like whatever I do outside, it sure beats being inside. When I’m inside the house, all I do is walk around, find something to do, use the computer, watch TV, sleep, and be a coach potato. Leaving the house is a total different story. It opens the door to a lot of things. I could go loiter somewhere with friends, go eat somewhere, go look at things, go talk to adults, or whatever.

loi·ter intr.v. - To stand idly about; linger aimlessly.

No matter how stupid or how weird, I’d still do it. (As long as theres people with me of course) Whether it be going to Border’s just to look at books or bussing all the way to Coit Tower just ’cause, I’d still do it. My parent’s have been getting mad about me going home too late. Now I’m not gonna post something about my parents being stupid. Yes, I know I’ve been coming home at or after midnight. But that doesn’t mean I should get picked on. I know I should be respectful. I try to be, but only if I’m being treated fairly. I don’t like when people act based on personal feelings when they shouldn’t. When a job could be done by anyone, don’t make the person you dislike do it just because you dislike them. Be fair.

/Just thought I’d post something to make it look like I actually update this blog. I wonder if Jennifer Ye still reads this. If you’re reading this, toss me an IM to let me know you’re still alive. :)

Boomers & Summer

In Daily Life, Inside My Head, Special Events on August 22, 2008 at 8:14 AM

Summer’s been fun so far. Hangin’ out, retreat, dinners, and all the other planned trips. I like having fun and being able to forget all my worries. It’s like a natural high. Haha. Too bad that all those stuff requires money. No money, no fun.

Today, we went to Boomers. Man, it was so fun. We played Go-Karting, Bumper Boats, Lazer Tag, and Mini-Golf. Go Karting was fun; racing with everyone and all. Too bad some black dude bumped our (Betty and I) car while I was racing Seward and Angela. That totally gave them the lead after much hard work of blocking them off! I loved driving the doubles. :] Bumper boats was also fun. Squirting people and teaming up on them really made me laugh. I got so drenched, it wasn’t even funny. It dried up while playing mini golf though. Mini-golf was alright. It was fun when I did good. Too bad, towards the end, I got owned by Angela. I started getting sixes. Lazer tag was crazy! I was totally dominating. Haha. Running across the room and killing everyone without dying really doesn’t get old. :] I think everyone had fun. Everyone seemed to be enjoying everyone else’s company. We should do planned activities more often!

I Ran Over A Girl

In Daily Life, Inside My Head on July 17, 2008 at 6:54 AM

Okay, I didn’t really RUN over a girl. What I did do was run and shoulder a girl by accident! You see, what happened was that I got the pass and saw no one was guarding me on the basketball court except for one girl. I tried to fast break and saw her follow so I tried to move to my right. The result of me turning caused me to shoulder the girl right in the cheek, causing her to fall right over. Rewinding to the week before, a girl was trying to grab hold the ball while I was holding the ball. She tried to pull it towards her body, so in response of not wanting to touch her, I quickly let go of the ball. I don’t wanna do what Kenny did in this week’s game, do I? Haha. Well, bottom line is, I hate guarding girls! It’s such a dilemma. If I was not to do anything, that might mean free points for the other team. If I was to do something, it would just mean I’m picking on a girl. What to do?

Money On My Mind

In Daily Life, Inside My Head on June 26, 2008 at 7:08 AM

I’m trying to save money for whatever trip I’m gonna go for the senior trip some of “us” planned. Since Edward, An Duc, and Seward are going on the SUPER expensive Florida trip to Disney World, the rest of “us” have to plan somewhere cheaper to go. We’re thinking of possibly going to SoCal like Los Angeles or somewhere around that area. Well.. without money, I can’t go anywhere. In order to conserve money and save as much as I can, I’ve been cutting down on spending. Here’s what I’ve done so far to cut down on spending:

- Buy only “Baos” if I’m hungry
- Can’t buy food before 4PM. I could just bring food out or eat at home
- Can’t eat out for dinner more than twice a week
- One event spending per week
- Quickly only once a week
- No meals over seven dollars

The result of this plan is that I get so hungry that I feel like passing out sometimes. Well, not really. I just get hungry enough to feel the burn and feel tired. At that point, I’d eat anything so saving money wouldn’t be a problem at that time. So far, in about a week, I’ve saved around twenty something bucks. That’s pretty good, eh?

Daily Life Section.

These past few days, I always watch a movie first before I leave the house. During the three days, I’ve watched “The Notebook”, “American Gangster”, and “Michael Clayton”. I’d watch anything interesting at home. The Notebook was one of them. It turned out to be a pretty good movie. After watching those movies, if it’s after 2:30 – 3:00PM, I’d leave to go to Chinatown and do whatever there. After around 9-10, I’d come home if I feel like it. Sleep. Repeat.

End of High School

In Daily Life, Inside My Head, Special Events on June 14, 2008 at 7:22 PM

I just had my graduation two days ago. How did I feel? Surprisingly, I had no feelings for it. I was neither sad or happy. I basically felt indifferent. The only feeling I remembered feeling was feeling annoyed that Mr. Wing was so stupid. It kinda sucks knowing that high school is over. No more  going to school, saying hey to people early in the morning. No more watching people playing basketball at lunch. No more chilling at Mr. Ring’s after school, playing hours of MJ. I’m gonna miss people. There’s no doubt about that. I’m sure I’ll see all the people I’ll miss though because if I’m gonna miss them, I’m sure we’d hang out some time in life. I still owe David Chan a toss and a dunk in basketball. After graduation ended, I felt relaxed. The dreaded  graduation was over. I was surprised to see that no one was crying. I’ve heard so many people saying “I’m gonna cry during graduation.” The pictures were the highlights of the day. It’s gonna be memory etched onto the paper in form of pixels.

What’d I do during graduation day? Let’s see.. ate breakfast with Jennifer, Betty, Kevin, and Edward @ New Regency ? I think that’s what it’s called. The servings were so small, and the red bean ice wasn’t that good. After breakfast, everyone went home. Oh yeah! We saw An Duc along the way going to the 12 bus stop. I went to An Duc’s to drop down my stuff for graduation and sleepover. Kevin came up to drop his sleeping bag. We all got redressed for graduation, since it was so hot and we were all sweating. We had to cool down. Took our gowns and walked to the graduation spot. Took pictures, went in. Lined up, walked into the auditorium, waited. Name was called, walked up, sat down. Waited. Left the room, met with family, took pictures at Grace Cathedral. Met up with friends, took tons of pictures. Went to Sweethearts with Corey, Amanda, Ben, An Duc, Kenny, Kevin, Karen, Edward, Miffy, Linda, Jimmy. Jenny came sometime later. Hung there for a couple of hours. Everyone left to either go home, go somewhere, or An Duc’s. I went to An Duc’s to chill for a bit, the Kitaro for dinner with An Duc, Kevin, Betty, Angela, Edward, Jenny, Kenny, Ada, Kathy, and Richard. Stuffed in Kathy’s car after dinner. Drove to Kowloon to eat dessert. Stuffed into car again, drove to An Duc’s, then played some American Idol Encore. Amanda and Corey came. Jenny, Kathy, Richard, and Ada left. Played some more American Idol, watched Shutter. TRIED to watch Zohan but it sounded weird. Slept at 4:30AM. Everyone woke up at like 10. Hung around, then went to eat lunch with An Duc, Betty, Jeffrey, and Edward at Pacific Court. An Duc’s again, then basketball @ Spring Valley. Visited some old teachers, then left cause some fat lady kicked us out. Did nothing at Angela’s for like 2 hours. Decided to go on a ghost hunt since it’s Friday the 13th. Walked to Cuhan theatre and Geary and Taylor. Nothing, but it looked freaky on the outside. It was locked. Haha. Went to the Marriot to check out what was there and we got free “Yo Yo’s”. It looks like a rubber band with noodles on the end of it. Took the bus to Sutter and Octavia to see Queen Anne’s Hotel. Nothing again cause we didn’t think the hotel would let us into room 410. Walked to J-town. They decided to go to the Army Hospital. I decided to go home since I was so tired from sleeping for only 2 hours. The end. Haha.

End of the Line

In Daily Life, Inside My Head, Music on June 8, 2008 at 4:48 AM

Whoa. The school year’s coming to an end already. I could remember like it was yesterday when I was thinking five more months of school was long. Is it me or does all this senior stuff seem unreal? The thought of walking through the stage, receiving my paper that tells me I’m not allowed in high school anymore, and then going on with my life seems … odd. I’m really gonna miss all the friends I’ve made and also all the friends I could’ve made. I regret not being more outgoing and social during the first two years of high school. I was your typical quiet asian that wouldn’t want to have anything to do with you unless you spoke to me. I went home almost everyday after school because I don’t see the point of staying out. After sophomore year, I became more social. Sigh…

Well enough about the end of the year crap. What did I do today? I woke up at 7:45AM to take a shower since I went home at 12:45 yesterday. I don’t like taking showers late at night so … I went to sleep without showering. Eww, right? Well after I showered, I got dressed and walked to the bart station. Barted to Chinatown, then went to chuch to have my Daycamp Leader Orientation at 9:00AM. I got there at 9:10AM so.. oops? Haha. There was no bus! Had the orientation until like 1:15PM. Hung around and started making this pop up card until 2:30PM. Walked to the Salvation Army gym to have basketball practice until 5. Went to eat at Ma’s, then went to Kenny’s house to scan Seward’s picture from prom. Spent two darn hours uninstalling Kenny’s old printer, installing his new printer, and trying to figure out how to work Kenny’s scan function on his new state-of-the-art printer. I fell asleep. Haha. Then .. I went home because I was tired. (:

Here’s some new songs that I’m addicted to.

Fate Stay Night

In Inside My Head on June 6, 2008 at 4:39 PM

Sigh.. now that I finished Fate Stay Night, there’s really nothing good to look forward to when I go home. For the past week, when I’m taking the Bart home, all I could think about is dinner and Fate Stay Night. It such a good anime. (Note: If you have time to watch it, and you enjoy anime, you should totally watch this.)

Fate Stay Night is about seven randomly chosen magicians (I think they should really call them sorcerers because they DO use sorcery) that participates in the Holy Grail War. The Holy Grail War is a war not literally a war. It’s when each magician gets to summon their own unique “servants” to fight against other magician servants. The whole point of the game is to defeat all other servants and obtain the Holy Grail. With it, you can wish for your heart’s desire.

Rin & Archer

Why is this anime so cool? Because it has everything wrapped into 24 episodes (It’s too short in my opinion). There’s fighting, drama, suspense… EVERYTHING! The only thing bad about the anime (not really bad, but weird) is that when they cast spells, they speak in German. The other animes I usually watch, they cast their spells in Latin. I don’t know. Maybe it’s just different from all the other animes.

Now that I finished Fate Stay Night, I gotta find a new anime! I watched one episode of Gurenn Lagenn. It seemed like an okay anime. I’m gonna give it 2-3 more episodes before I decide if I should watch the remaining 30 something episodes.

Crisis Response Network

In Daily Life, Inside My Head on June 1, 2008 at 6:57 AM

So Friday was peace day, I assume. During Ms. Morrison’s class, these three dudes came in to talk to us about teenage violence. They were pretty cool. One was black, another was Vietnamese?, and the last one was Filipino?. I don’t really know why, but I respected everything they said.

They talked about how theres a lot of violence between youths over drugs, gangs, etc. They promoted their various ways of helping youths, like driving people home when they’re drunk, or escorting people. It seemed kinda weird since they had this service called “Safe Passage”, which means if a gang is out to get you, they can drive in a van to pick you up and drop you off at a certain location because they’re a respected group and gangs wouldn’t  target the CRN(Crisis Response Network). They seem like the perfect group to have because they do everything a “cool adult” would. Drive you home when you’re drunk and you got no money to call the cab, escort you, talk conflicts out. Well, peace day. Whoooo.

Mental vs Physical

In Inside My Head on May 28, 2008 at 6:14 AM

When you think of basketball, you probably think of sweaty people bouncing a ball while running up and down the court. What you probably do not think of is how the game is more mental rather than physical. In my opinion, basketball is 30% physical and 70% mental. Physically, you need to run, jump, and pass. Mentally, you need to do a lot: Predict movement, anticipate your opponent, and most of all, calm your mind. If you play while thinking too much, you’ll most likely be “off”.

While I play, I try not to think too much. When I think too much, bad things happen: my passes miss, easy shots become terrible failures, etc. Also, I try not to think and believe that I am tired. If I believe I am, then I am. If I believe that I’m not, then I’m not. That’s how I am able to endure so much basketball after both proms. Lol. I try not to stand there when the ball is in the air. I would like to keep my feet moving and keep on working. If I stop, there’s no doubt that I’d get lazy and walk than run. See? Mental. The physical part is easy. Eh! Basketball is easy!

(Just kidding, Kenny)

Inside My Head: Conscience

In Inside My Head on May 21, 2008 at 3:51 PM

I have a habit of keeping my conscience in check. I wouldn’t want to do something that I know would make me feel guilty. This past week, I’ve been facing decisions like “Do this? Or not do this?” and “Stop doing that? Or keep doing that?” Whether I like it or not, I end up picking the choice that would make me feel good about what I did. Although I may feel good about what I did, I may regret it afterwards. I don’t know if that’s bad or not, but it usually sticks to me like glue. I won’t stop thinking about it until something takes my mind off of it.

I’ve also noticed that I’ve been picking on and making fun of certain people more often. Non-stop jokes and capping. Note to self: Put a cap on how much capping I should do on one person before it gets too far. Kenny should know what I mean.

Nothing Much Happenin’

In Inside My Head on May 13, 2008 at 3:35 PM

After AP Exams, Prom, etc, nothing much is really happening. There’s no more need to walk around Downtown for 3 hours to look for someone’s dress. There’s no reason to go to Barnes and Noble to study for exams. (Although, I still go to Border’s to read random books for fun. I’m no nerd. Just bored.) All there is to do is go to Quickly and grab a drink, then whatever happens after that is a mystery to me.

I haven’t really bought anything materialistic for the past few months. I should start buying clothes and stuff before I heard down to college. Something tells me that I need to change my whole closet before I head down there.
